The Arts Council of Big Sky is thrilled to announce the development of our new arts center, located at 77 Lone Peak Drive, the former Choppers restaurant. This transformative project will create a public-access arts hub designed to inspire creativity and foster community connections.
Our offices are now located in this new space, please stop by and say hello!
Please note that our pottery classroom in still located in the BASE Community Center.
For years, the Arts Council has operated out of BASE, where we rent an office and a multipurpose classroom. While we are grateful for BASE and its support, we’ve outgrown the limitations of a single classroom and the lack of a dedicated venue space for larger programs and visiting artists. Our new building will feature five classrooms, expanding our capacity for workshops, classes, and programming. Additionally, it will provide dedicated spaces for youth programming, community gatherings and creative exploration.
Including our first event in April 2025 - Lone Peak High School Prom - we have partnered with 61 organizations in the area, and have hosted, presented or have on the books 81 events specifically in the Big Sky Center for the Arts building. But there are so many ideas we've had to say no to because we can't host multiple activities at the same time until we remodel the space.
The remodel will transform the existing building from two stories and 4,000 square feet of program space into a four-story arts and community hub with 10,500 of program space. The remodel will create:
We are currently in the "quiet phase" of our capital campaign, with 1/3 of the funds needed raised, including $3 million from our lead donor Don Grasso, and $1 million from Big Sky Resort Area District. We are working on major partner support to get us to the 2/3 mark, and plan to finish the campaign strong with community engagement from every corner of Big Sky. This is YOUR building, and we want to work with YOU to build the heART of Big Sky here at the Center. Stay tuned for updates and ways you can support this exciting project.
As Arts Council Development Director Katie Alvin says, “There’s so much creative energy in the community that’s ready to be tapped, and this creates the space for that.” We can’t wait to bring light, vibrancy, and inspiration back to this space, creating a brighter future for the arts in Big Sky!
